Sudatel Telecom Group, together with Djibouti Telecom and Ethio telecom, presented the HORIZON Terrestrial Fibre Corridor to leading technology companies and industry stakeholders in Addis Ababa.
The workshop brought together representatives from Google, Meta (HipConsult), Microsoft, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Airtel, Bayobab, WIOCC, Nokia, Ciena, center3, Saudi Vision, China Mobile International and BringCom.
Discussions focused on the commercial and technical requirements of the high-capacity fibre corridor being developed across Djibouti, Ethiopia and Sudan.
The HORIZON corridor will connect Djibouti’s submarine cable infrastructure to Sudan through Ethiopia, providing a diversified terrestrial route alongside existing subsea networks. Designed for multi-terabit capacity, low-latency connectivity and network redundancy, the corridor aims to support growing demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence, fintech, e-commerce and digital content across the region.
The workshop represents an important step in engaging potential customers, technology providers and strategic partners in the initiative.
Through HORIZON, the three telecom operators aim to expand international bandwidth, strengthen network resilience and contribute to the development of more reliable digital infrastructure across Africa.
