Solar Foods participated in the UNIDO ITPO Germany Delegation Mission in Kassala, joining companies and other stakeholders to explore opportunities for investment, technology transfer and local production in Sudan.
The company highlighted Kassala’s potential to develop beyond agricultural production into a centre for local processing and value addition. Expanding processing capacity could help reduce post-harvest losses, create employment and prepare Sudanese agricultural products for domestic and export markets.
Solar Foods currently operates solar-powered agro-processing activities in Kassala, connecting renewable energy technology with local manufacturing, smallholder farmers and market access.
According to the company, discussions during the delegation mission focused on practical partnerships that could support the expansion of local processing and strengthen agricultural value chains.
The mission brought together international and Sudanese businesses to examine investment opportunities outside Sudan’s major commercial centres, with Kassala’s agriculture and processing sectors among the areas of interest.
