The UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Office (ITPO) Germany conducted a business and investment mission across Port Sudan, Kassala and Gedaref from 5–10 September, bringing together 17 European and Sudanese diaspora companies with local businesses and institutions.
Business-to-business meetings across the three cities attracted around 200 Sudanese entrepreneurs, creating opportunities to explore partnerships in agricultural machinery, agro-processing, renewable and off-grid energy, cold-chain infrastructure, water technologies and food production.
In Gedaref, the delegation visited UNIDO’s SIMSIMNA project, which supports sustainable livelihoods and food security. In Kassala, participants visited Agricultural Transformation Hubs, including crop-processing facilities and renewable-energy applications supporting cooperatives and smallholder farmers.
The mission was organised in cooperation with UNIDO’s Country Office in Port Sudan and its offices in Gedaref and Kassala. Meetings were also held
with food manufacturers, financial institutions and other partners, while a roundtable in Port Sudan brought together UN agencies and NGOs.
The initiative focused on connecting international technology, investment and entrepreneurship with Sudanese businesses, with an emphasis on strengthening local value chains, expanding industrial capabilities and developing new international partnerships.
